🍸🕵🏾‍♀️ Fun Fact Friday | The Dry Martini | History, Olives & a Little Intrigue

Your mission, should you choose to accept it: grab a glass and join us for a little cocktail history. 🕵🏾‍♀️🍸

Welcome back to Fun Fact Friday — Where Facts Meet Flavor!

This week, we're stepping into a world of dimly lit bars, secret conversations, tailored suits, mysterious strangers, and one of the most recognizable cocktails ever placed on a bar top:

The Dry Martini. 🍸✨

Simple in appearance but packed with history, the Martini has evolved considerably over the years. From its debated beginnings in the late 1800s to becoming a symbol of sophistication, nightlife, Hollywood glamour, and—of course—spy-movie culture, few cocktails have built a reputation quite like this one.

And then there's that little green ingredient sitting quietly in the glass...

The olive. 🫒

📜 This Week's Mission: Martini History

The exact origin of the Martini remains debated, with historians pointing to several possible predecessors and influences from the late 19th century.

As tastes changed, Martini recipes generally became drier, with gin and dry vermouth becoming closely associated with the version many people recognize today.

By the 20th century, the Martini had moved beyond the bar and into film, literature, nightlife, and popular culture, building an image associated with elegance, confidence, and a little mystery. 🎬🍸

And yes... Shaken or stirred became a conversation all its own. 👀
